Prof. K. Ramasubramanian is the Institute Chair Professor at Cell for Indian Science and Technology in Sanskrit, Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. He holds a Doctorate degree in Theoretical Physics, a Master’s in Sanskrit and a Bachelor’s in Engineering – a formidable combination with which he has re-established some of the lost treasures of our ancient Indian knowledge traditions. He was honored with the title Vidvat Pravara in 2003 by the Shankaracharya of Sringeri Sharada Peetham for demonstrating his mastery in Advaita Vedanta by completing a rigorous 14-semester program. He is one of the authors of detailed explanatory notes of Yuktibhāṣā, Tantrasaṅgraha and Karaṇapaddhati, which brought out the seminal contributions of the Kerala School of Astronomy and Mathematics, for which the “Maharshi Badarayana Vyas Samman” was conferred upon him by the President of India in 2008. He has won several prestigious awards and is a member of several scholarly commissions, councils, and academies. More recently he was an invited speaker at the prestigious International Congress of Mathematicians 2022.
He learnt Veda and Vedanta under the tutelage of his father, the renowned Mahāmahopādhyāya, Vedabhāṣyaratnam, Sri Mullaivasal Krishnamurthi Sastrigal, retired Principal of Madras Sanskrit college. More information on him, and many of his lectures can be accessed at
